💚 March 2026 💚

Happy March!

It's Women's History Month and the Free Library of Philadelphia is proud to celebrate and honor the many contributions and achievements of women throughout history. Explore a variety of events, discussions, and curated book lists to highlight the diverse voices and powerful legacies of women. Stay connected this month by visiting the events calendar for upcoming programs and resources.

We also have exciting news—the 2026 One Book, One Philadelphia selection was announced last week! One Book, One Philadelphia is an outstanding literacy and civic dialogue initiative that encourages the greater Philadelphia region to come together through reading and conversation. This year's selection is Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng, a dystopian novel that follows a 12-year-old boy on a quest to find his Chinese American mother, Margaret, who disappeared after her poems were banned by an authoritarian government.

The companion reads are Somewhere Between Bitter and Sweet by Laekan Zea Kemp for teens and How to Grow a Family Tree by Bea Birdsong for children. For more information and to participate in One Book, One Philadelphia, visit our website!

The Free Library is one of the most important educational and cultural institutions in Philadelphia. While the City of Philadelphia provides public funds for the operations of the Free Library, it is through the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation and the generosity of private funding from individuals, foundations, and corporations that the Free Library is able to offer many of the Library’s incredible programs and activities that advance literacy, guide learning, inspire curiosity throughout the region, and help deliver on the promise of an equitable future for all of Philadelphia’s children, families, and communities.
